Wilson gets it

Every once in a while a school will get a freakishly good freshman athlete that will defy all the rules of gravity, defy the rules of physics, and perform like a seasoned veteran. Quentin Wilson is one of those special cases for Berkmar Track & Field. Wilson started off this track season like any normal freshman posting a respectable time of 12.14 tying his teammate Myles Bryant (who is a sophomore) in his first track meet. Since then, Wilson has taken off posting a time of 11.95, 11.50, and 11.38 respectively. " You just don't drop that much time in a 100 meter dash so quickly, to drop over 7 tenths of a second over three weeks treads on the thought of being superhuman'" said Coach Harper who was a 100 meter dash specialist in college. Coach Harper attributes most of Wilson's success to his technique. Coach Harper added, "Quentin has worked hard on his technique, there were a few things wrong with his start and although we haven't fixed it totally, it looks way better than his first race." Quoting his high school coach, coach Harper added this: " The scary part is, we haven't even worked on speed yet and we have only worked on the first 30 meters of the race." Coach Harper says, with continual improvement and practice, he believes that Wilson can go under 11 seconds in the 100 meter dash. A time under 11 seconds would put Wilson among the top 100 meter runners in the region. " I just do what coach tell me to do and so far it's been working so I'll just keep listening and hopefully I'll get faster." said Wilson who hopes to win the 100 meter dash at the 7A Region 7 Track & Field Championships in April. " We have until April, so about three weeks, and if I can drop another 7 (tenths of a second) then I should go to state." Dropping another 7 tenths of a second would put Wilson at 10.68 which would put him tied for 9th in the State and tied for 4th in class 7A.
